Create your first lead-magnet and collect e-mails

You are spending enogh money on advertising and trying to get people on your website. In order to have a great ROI, it is adviced to capture the email address of your visitors and start communicating with them.

In this tutorial we will create an ebook download workflow in exchange for the visitor's email address.

As usual first we chop the ingredients and cook our automation as second step.

1. Upload your asset

Go to assets, and click on New.

This is the PDF, what our customers will recieve once they sumbit the form with their emails. It is a reward basically. Or a bribe, depending on how you see it πŸ˜‚

We can upload the asset by simply dragging and dropping into the upload area. (1.)

We have to assign a title for this asset. Something that preperly describes it, and possible unique. We will need to be able to choose this asset by name later. (2.)

The description is not mandatory. (3.)

Make sure you save the asset after upload. (4.)

2. Create your lead capture form

Go to Components - Forms and choose New.

Let's make a new form based on what we have learned before.

We fill out the name of the form, and set the proper success settings. In this case I set to show a text and entered a success message.

Let's go the the next tab.

I created an email field and first name field, with a simple submit button.

Here comes the magic: we need to set the form in that way, that our form automatically allows the download of the asset upon successful submission. You can do that in the Actions tab.

After choosing the right action, you can set the asset to be downloaded:

Save your progress and head to the landing pages. When you save your form, make sure, you remember the ID:

In our case it's 6.

3. The landing

We will create a landing page to host our form and give a preview from our amazing free downloadable content.

Head to Components - Landing pages.

You can choose a template or use the drag and drop builder to create a simple design.

For this tutorial I created a simple landing with a header, text, images and a form in it.

If your form id is 6, than the form can be included by the token {form=6}. Make sure you are using the right form ID.

After saving the landing page, and clicking on the page link:

This is the same link, that you need to tie in into your website.

Our ready lead-capture page looks like this now:

As next steps, you can create a reminder or a nurturing campaign, but that is the topic for next time πŸ™‚
